What's the difference between a Will and a Trust?
A Will passes assets through probate court. Although necessary, the process can take 12 months or more. A Trust avoids probate and gives you more control over when and how beneficiaries receive their inheritance. We often recommend using both.
Do I need an estate plan if I don't have much money?
Yes. estate planning is about naming who makes decisions for you and who gets your belongings — regardless of value. A Power of Attorney and a Will provide clear guidance to your family.
How long does it take to set up a basic estate plan?
Most plans are completed within two weeks. We meet, draft the documents, review them with you, and handle the signing at a location of your choice (home, library, etc.)
What happens if I die without a will?
State law decides who inherits your property and who manages your estate. That might not match your wishes. A will puts the choices in your hands, not the state's.
Do I need a power of attorney even if I'm young?
As long as you are 18 or older, Yes. A power of attorney lets someone you trust handle your finances and medical decisions if you become unable to do so. Accidents and illnesses happen at any age.
Can I update my estate plan later?
Yes. Life changes — marriages, divorces, births, new assets. We make updating your will, trust, or power of attorney straightforward. It's not a one-and-done document.
